Google Play app management

Google Play, 2018-2020
What I did
Play’s app management page was only good for updating an app or reinstalling an old one, and users wanted more features. I worked with a UX designer and a PM to rebuild the page with useful information at the fore.
Part of the project was going to engineers to see what information was even available. We took the chance to incorporate some new features, including Play Protect, storage management, and app sharing. I organized everything based on common user journeys, and UX research confirmed most of our assumptions. Naturally, I adjusted our information architecture for the ones it didn’t.
After
Pushing for a new name
The original scope of the project didn’t include a rename for the page, but I campaigned for it. The original name didn’t match our guidelines (don’t use “my” in names), and I knew I’d never get a better chance to change it. There were some holdouts amongst product folks who disagreed with our guidelines, but it’s hard to argue with consistency, and I’m proud to report that my little crusade paid off.
